Nipple Discharge

Nipple discharge is when fluid comes out of the nipple. The fluid ranges in color and consistency. Nipple discharge is normal in pregnant or breastfeeding women and sometimes occurs due to hormonal changes caused by menstruation. There are a variety of different causes, including birth control or endocrine disorders. It can sometimes be a sign of breast cancer but would be accompanied by other symptoms like a lump in the breast, blood in the discharge, or discharge from only one breast. Bloody discharge can also be a sign of a papilloma, which is a benign tumor.
